Following two days of excitement and tension, Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Adamawa State gubernatorial election, has secured victory for his re-election bid.
Fintiri triumphed over his closest opponent, Aisha Ahmed Binani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, by amassing 430,869 votes, while Binani garnered 398,788 votes.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Mohammed Mele, is expected to officially declare Fintiri, the incumbent Governor, who was initially elected in 2019, as the winner of the election after completing the ongoing formalities.
