Elections are supposed to be the contest of POPULARITY just as Manifestos are festival of IDEAS. The people are therefore supposed to be ALLOWED to CHOOSE FREELY amongst the contestants whom they believe has the BEST Manifesto, more Popular or based on track records.
Charity they say “begins at home”. Therefore, the Governor was supposed to win Akwanga and the Deputy Governor was supposed to win Doma, their respective Local Governments. Their inability to win the aforementioned LGCs shows that “their kinsmen” DO NOT BELIEVE IN THEIR MANIFESTO nor think they are POPULAR. It also shows that their PAST RECORDS WEREN’T GOOD ENOUGH to secure their re-election.

Furthermore, Lafia LGC for instance has 13 Electoral wards with total accredited voters of about 66,000. Surprisingly, the Gubernatorial results for Lafia LGC had over 107,000 total votes casted with Gayam/Chiroma wards alone having total vote cast of 49,685???? out of the 13 Electoral Wards in Lafia LGC #WhatAMagic ⁉️
If truly the winner of an election is the Candidate who scores the HIGHEST VOTES legitimately, then there should be more people on the streets CELEBRATING not more people on the streets PROTESTING the outcome of the elections. A case study of electorates of Kano, Abia, Plateau, Oyo, Osun states, respectively.
This therefore is the true definition of WHEN THE POPULAR MANDATE IS NOT POPULAR.
Lastly, those whom we refer to as LEADERS must be HONOURABLE and EXCELLENT in their dealings if they want the people to address them as HONOURABLE OR YOUR EXCELLENCY. The most HONOURABLE thing to do therefore is to RESPECT the people’s choice and HONOURABLY RETURN THE MANDATE OF THE PEOPLE TO THE PEOPLE.
