Portable, a singer from Nigeria, was honored with the Artiste of the Year accolade at the recently concluded Golden Stars Award.

In jubilation over his recent triumph, the artist known for the song ‘Zazoo Zeh’ posted a video on his Instagram page featuring himself holding the award. In his message, he proudly proclaimed his newfound identity as the “modern incarnation of Fela.”

”Akoi Grace IKA OF AFRICA ???? Kinimah Fajah Trending Artist Of The Year Portable Omolalomi New Born FELA Wahala Musician. Big Thanks to all my lover’s out side ZAzuu Akoi Million Fans @goldenstarsaward Cc. @babyluvgram Akoi Best Artist Manager Of The Year, Na God Dey Run Am.”

Accepting his award, Portable thanked his fans for all of their support and vowed to bring home a Grammy next.

This won’t be Portable’s first time speaking about his plans to win a Grammy.

The controversial singer, sometime last year, came under massive backlash following his rant about his hit single ‘Zazoo Zeh,” which he argued deserved a Grammy nod.

This post rubbed many in the wrong way, causing several netizens to drag the singer silly on social media.

Popular Twitter influencer, Daniel Regha, commenting on Portable’s Grammy argument, slammed the singer, saying his song only holds water on the streets.

He added that ‘Zazoo Zeh’ is far from a hit record and not deserving of a Headies award nomination; talk more of a Grammy win.

Portable has since continued to prove his musical prowess, releasing solo records and features that have amassed major traction.
