Kaduna’s Mom: A Shout-Out to Mrs. Jummai Bako, Kaduna State Head of Civil Service, for Her Selfless Sacrifice. She is being celebrated by hundreds of families and thousands of people across Kaduna State.

Mrs. Jummai Bako, the Head of Service of Kaduna State, is far more than an accomplished public administrator; she is the beating heart of her people. Born on October 19th, her life has been a living legacy to unconditional love and profound sacrifice.
For years, she has looked at the struggling youth and vulnerable families of Kaduna State especially within Southern Kaduna, Kachia LGA, and her beloved Sabon Sarki community and chosen to act as their shield. Where others saw statistics, Mrs. Bako saw her children.
Behind closed doors, her generosity is legendary. Countless families tell emotional stories of her quiet interventions how she secretly provides jobs for the unemployed, keeps food on the tables of struggling widows, and sponsors the education of orphans out of her own pocket.
She does not seek the spotlight or ask for anything in return. Her motivation is purely maternal. It is this deeply compassionate, self-sacrificing nature that has earned her the enduring love of civil servants and local communities alike.

A Foundation of Academic Excellence
Mrs. Bako’s impactful public service career is anchored by an impressive academic background. She holds:
• A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Kaduna State University
• A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Economics from Bayero University, Kano
• A Diploma in Computer Operations from the Kaduna Community Resource Centre
These credentials, combined with extensive local and international professional training, formed the basis for her analytical approach to state governance and fiscal policy.
A Distinguished Career in Public Governance
Before her historic appointment as Head of Service by Governor Uba Sani, where she succeeded Habiba Anana Shekarau, Mrs. Bako spent decades mastering public administration. Her professional journey spans multiple vital sectors:
• Fiscal Leadership: As the former Director of Budget and Director of Monitoring and Evaluation within the Planning and Budget Commission, she shaped strategic fiscal policies designed to protect and prioritize vulnerable populations while ensuring strict budget adherence.
• Civil Service Administration: She served with distinction as the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, overseeing crucial areas such as Establishment, Management, and Training.
• Education and Local Government: Her early career includes valuable contributions as a lecturer at the Bauchi State Polytechnic, alongside influential roles within the Kaduna State Ministries of Education and Local Government.
Driving Policy and Community Transformation
Mrs. Bako’s expertise has made her a vital member of several high-level policy and development initiatives. She actively serves as the Co-Chair of the Government-Citizens Engagement Committee under the Open Government Partnership (OGP), helps guide the Kaduna State Steering Committee on Social Investments, and sits on the Board of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA). Furthermore, as a former councilorship candidate in Kachia LGA, her grassroots political presence has long been a catalyst for boosting women’s political participation across Southern Kaduna.
Elevating the Kaduna State Civil Service
Since stepping into her role as the Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Bako has focused heavily on driving meaningful administrative reforms. She has modernized workflows, streamlined daily operations, and championed robust staff welfare initiatives to maximize service delivery across the state.
