Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has passed away in London.
The news was confirmed by his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, via a post on X, where he stated:
“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
Buhari, who led Nigeria as a civilian president from 2015 to 2023, and earlier as a military head of state between 1983 and 1985, was widely known for his anti-corruption campaign and efforts to reform and stabilize Nigeria’s economy.
Burial arrangements will be announced by the family and observed in line with Islamic rites.
