On Friday morning, security operatives blocked the Kano Emir’s Palace and prevented Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from attending a royal event in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to reports by News Point Nigeria, the Emir was scheduled to preside over a ceremony for the presentation of a staff of office to the new District Head of Bichi.

However, heavily armed security personnel reportedly ordered the Emir to remain indoors, while armoured personnel carrier (APC) vehicles were deployed to block the palace entrance.

A source within the Kano Emirate disclosed that the Emir has been making calls to ascertain the reason for the action.

Meanwhile, another source revealed that a delegation sent by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the palace was also denied access by the security operatives.

The event venue in Bichi, where Emir Sanusi II was meant to attend, was similarly cordoned off by security forces, raising further questions about the situation.
