During the telecast on Sunday night (June 25), six awards were presented. Latto received the award for best female hip-hop artist, while Coco Jones accepted the award for best new artist in person.
Teyana Taylor’s mother, Nikki, accepted her daughter’s award on her behalf and even connected with her via FaceTime during the broadcast to inform her that she had won video director of the year.
Burna Boy has again won Best International Act of the year for the 4th time.
Among the 15 awards that were not televised, two notable ties occurred: Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” and SZA’s “SOS” both tied for album of the year.
