By now “[WTMG]”, you must have noticed the heavy rotation, the 24-hour build up, one of the most daring stunts of 2021, and one of the most elite Amapiano tunes you’ve heard outchea in a while ‘CHAMPION SOUND’.

The King of African ShowBiz Davido is definitely back with his first single of the year. Another sensational collaborative effort with South African Superstar Focalistic. Their 2020 hit song Ke Star Remix will go down as one of the defining culturally impactful creative expressions of their generation.

Champion Sound, just like every other Davido single, was born to thrive, way above others and it’s not surprising. David is one of the biggest music exports out of Africa, and if he’s releasing his first single of the year, then we all know what time it is. 24 hours before the release of Champion Sound, everyone in the country already knew something big was coming and hushed whispers of what direction the new Davido joint would take.

2021 has been a little quiet for Davido and his team, following the release of “A Better Time” album in 2020 and his teeming fans from all over the world have been expecting something “hooge”.

Champion Sound comes loaded with a plethora of perfectly blended synths, top notch percussion and an arsenal of vibes that can only be generated by South Africa’s Maradona & Nigeria’s 30BG President. The vibe on Champion Sound is so wavy and it’s not surprising to see that Davido is back on the charts, already topping in over 29 countries, I think it’s safe to say we’re going to have a really project-full end of the year.

The track comes heavy on the trail of Davido’s massive birthday showers of love to the tune of #200M from his fans, friends, colleagues, family and well wishers. He does the world one better, by adding another #50M to the balance, sets up a committee of reputable, highly placed Nigerians to distribute every penny among all orphanages in Nigeria.

Champion Sound is such a sultry tease that it wouldn’t be surprising if the two African pop stars decide to drop an Amapiano heavy joint project.

Although it would equally be important to point out that it would only just be hurting Amapiano’s already soaring love in this part of the continent.

Considering how much Davido has jumped on and charted with Amapiano in the past year alone, it’s safe to call him Amapiano royalty by now.

Champion Sound has a really great vibe and is already on repeat in all the Lagos clubs, night lounges, and philandering destinations scattered all over the country.

Davido X Focalistic on a joint is dynamite even if we’re on the last leg of the genre’s chart topping success in Nigeria.

Rating: 6/10.

Comment: David is the only competition Davido has. He’s playing in an elite league here and it’s no longer just about the music. This is about building a legacy of youth empowerment and cross cultural emancipation.
