The both associations claimed that the Federal Government have refused to fulfill its promises. They also said that the Federal Government have failed to fulfill their owned part of the signed agreement. The both parties also claimed that other unresolved issues include the abandonment and poor funding of state universities by the Federal Government, the nonpayment of retirement benefits of outgone members and several other issues.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has also said that it might resume its strike February, if the Federal Government refuse to fulfill all the promises they made to the union. With the situation of things now, it’s looking like students of tertiary institutions may stay a bit longer at home.
