The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has called on all Nigerians to go back to farming.

Speaking at Argungu International Fishing Festival held in Kebbi state, the Senate President who represented President Muhammadu Buhari, called on Nigerians to go back to farming as it is the only remedy to rescue the economy from impending danger.

He added that Arugungu International Fishing Festival has shown the commitment of government in promoting food production, national security, and he thereby urged the people to support the present administration by giving it a sense of belonging.

Lawan however, expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome the security and economy challenges currently facing her.

“We are progressing in terms of the economy, the festival has been bringing changes to the Nigeria, it brings unity among the different cultures and ethnicity groups”, he added.

Also speaking, Kebbi State Governor Senator Abubakar Bagudu assured the people of Argungu that his administration will continue to support the festival and promote the tourism industry in the state.

“We are committed to the hearing of the people, I thank President Muhammad Buhari, the emir and the main organiser of the programme for the successful hosting of the Argungu International Fishing Festival” he said.

Also speaking the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Mera, thanked the President, the Senate President, Ministers and other governors in attendance for gracing the occasion.
