The coronavirus disease outbreak (COVID-19 outbreak) is caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). It was initially identified in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province in China, after 41 people presented with pneumonia of no clear cause. This was followed by a health emergency declaration on some provinces and other parts of mainland China.

Following medical advices, people were to stay indoors and wear protective apparels when coming out as an attempt to curtail the widespread of the deadly disease. As a result of this crowd could be seen doning the masks in the streets and other places of import.

The virus has become an epidemic in mainland China and other parts of the world. Since it’s outbreak in wuhan, the Corona Virus has ravaged the Asian country with minor cases in different countries accross the globe.

Death toll rises: The total number of infected worldwide stands at over 76,600 and at least 2,200 people have died — all but 11 in mainland China.

Chinese doctors battling to find an effective treatment for the novel coronavirus began testing different medications used in treating HIV, Ebola and malaria, according to a to reports.

A particular drug, known as chloroquine, which is used to treat malaria, was tested against coronavirus in China, the Times reported. The drug appeared to work as it prevented enzymes called proteases from allowing the virus to mature and replicate.

Even though the world health organization has not officially declared a cure for the deadly virus, people were happy that and end was in sight for the killer disease. As always, Nigerians were not left out in the jubilation as they took to social media to air their views.
