The wanton killings cum genocides and destruction of properties, farm produce and churches in Southern Kaduna part of Kaduna state is no longer news, unsuspecting villages are often times rounded up by heavily armed Fulani terrorists with very little or no efforts at all from the security personnel on ground. These unprovoked killings have generated lots of reactions from across the globe with many key actors lending their voices in condemning the carnages. The government have been playing double standard since the recent waves of killings started with the Kaduna state governor Nasiru Elrufai assuming the position of a spokesman to the Fulanis responsible for the killings, in one of his interviews on Channels Television Sunrise daily, the careless talker-governor confessed to paying the terrorists compensation in order to get them stop the killings in southern Kaduna yet the killings assumed a more terrible dimension after his confession, this invariably mean the payment was meant to further street the terrorists. The governor’s confession received wide condemnations from within and outside the shores of Nigeria with many questioning the rationale behind such a malicious act of compensating terrorists while the victims are left without any form of compensation despite the materials and lives lost, not even an ID camp was provided for the displaced villagers, most of these villagers have resulted to sleeping in bushes waiting for when next the terrorists will come and kill them, this sounds ridiculous but it is the reality in southern Kaduna where I come from.
Dissent voices have always had themselves intimidated, arrested and detained illegally for voicing out against the killings.
Just when we thought peace and calm have finally returned despite pockets of killings ongoing, the terrorists struck again on Sunday 19th and Monday 20th February 2017 in a well coordinated attack surrounding over 5 villages, shooting sporadically, burning down houses and churches while the soldiers and police officers on ground watch in awe, as usual casualties in both dead and injuries were recorded.
With the latest attack, it is now obvious than the attackers are not ready to lay down their arms despite Governor Elrufai doling out tax payers monies as compensation to them. Everyday is another day for bloodshed, pains, tears and sorrow in Southern Kaduna, we are left with only one option as a people and that is to defend ourselves with whichever way possible as permitted by the laws of the land.
If Governor Elrufai has not been paying the terrorists compensations who knows they may have ran out of supplies and the killings may have seized.
The huge military and police presence in Southern Kaduna is not to stop the killings of the Southern Kaduna people but to protect the aggressors from possible reprisals.
