Good morning, world. Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers. Find out what you need to know this morning

1. The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, has said the commission cannot guarantee 100 percent perfect election in 2027 as far as electronic transmission of results is concerned. 2. The Presidency has debunked viral social media claims alleging that a member of the kitchen staff at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa was arrested for attempting to poison President Bola Tinubu. The denial was issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared the circulating video on his verified X account and described its contents as entirely false.

3. Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shi’ites, led by Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, yesterday protested in Gombe, Niger, Kano, Bauchi, Yobe and Sokoto states over the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a joint US-Israeli airstrike.

4. Rising tensions in the Middle East, triggered by ongoing US and Israeli attacks on Iran, may push fuel prices higher in Nigeria, as crude oil prices reached $72.87 per barrel on Sunday. The escalation followed a military operation in which Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his daughter, grandchild, daughter-in-law, and son-in-law were killed.

5. Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have dealt a heavy blow to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State, killing eight insurgents and seizing a range of weapons, including RPGs, guns, and an armed drone, during coordinated attacks on multiple communities. The attacks targeted Forward Operating Bases, FOBs, at Mayanti, Gajigana, and Gajiram between February 28 and March 1, 2026.
