3. Suspected bandits on Tuesday night attacked personnel of the National Park Service in Oloka village, Orire Local Government Area, Oyo State. It was learnt that the attack occurred around 9:00 pm on January 6, 2026, catching the NPS personnel by surprise. Several officers were reportedly killed or injured during the incident.

4. Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has boasted he will laugh at last in the ensuing defection crisis between him and Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf. While urging supporters to go back to the grassroots and mobilise people, Kwankwaso noted: “This is the most important thing before you as some people are defecting.”

5. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State as “a bad child”. 7. Gunmen on Tuesday night attacked herders, killing one and injuring another around Gero community in Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau state. 8. Residents of Meiran were thrown into panic on Wednesday after hoodlums reportedly chased one another with axes along parts of the area. It was gathered from multiple eyewitnesses that no life was lost during the fracas, which occurred at Kabowei Bus Stop in Meiran at about 1pm on Wednesday.

9. The Kogi State sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has attributed a motor accident on the Lokoja–Abuja road, which killed five people and injured seven others, to wrongful overtaking.
