The portal of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, will open for registration for remobilization of absconded Corps members on Monday, 18th December, 2023.
A statement signed by Eddy Megwa, Director, Press and Public Relations, explained that remobilization is a second chance process for Corps members that did not complete their service year when they were initially mobilized for national service.
“All Corps Members in this category are enjoined to avail themselves of this golden opportunity,” the statement said.
DAILY POST reported that the NYSC, in Katsina State, recently extended the service of 16 of the 661 Corps members who ended their service year on Friday.
The 16 Corps members had their service year extended for violating rules and regulations.
National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members have been charged to make use of the scheme to not only impact their host communities but also to transform themselves.
Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, gave the advice during the official closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch C Stream II of corps members deployed to Osun State, on Thursday.
Represented by the Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, Ahmed enjoined the corps members to embrace diversity and be responsible citizens of Nigeria.
The NYSC DG also charged the corps members to strive for excellence in their place of primary assignments.
He said, “As you prepare to leave this Orientation Camp and embark on your service year in Osun State, and Lagos State, I urge you to remember the lessons you have learned during this Orientation.
“Embrace diversity, be responsible citizens, and strive for excellence in your various places of primary assignment. You are now ambassadors of unity and positive change in Osun State, Lagos State and any state you may redeploy to for those of you going on redeployment.
“The social interactions and cultural exchange fostered unity and tolerance among our diverse Corps Members. This cultural diversity is one of the unique aspect of the NYSC programme that promotes national integration.”
