Nigerian singer and songwriter Gabriel Omavoran Williams, professionally known as KiNg TeMi, releases his new single “Amala Meji,” a socially reflective Afro-soul and Afrobeats record that examines themes of inequality, greed, and the emotional cost of silence in the face of imbalance.
Built on metaphor and repetition, Amala Meji tells a universal story: many people rely on a figure meant to protect and provide, only for that figure to become self-serving and disconnected. Although his musical journey formally began in high school, KiNg TeMi’s connection to music goes beyond passion or profession. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, with roots in Delta State, his early influences included Hip-hop artists like Junior and Pretty, particularly their hit “Monica.” Music has always been an intrinsic part of his life, a connection that shapes his approach to storytelling, sound, and expression.
