Good morning, world. Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers. Find out what you need to know this morning

1. Troops of the Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during renewed offensive operations across the North-East theatre. The successes were recorded under Operation Desert Sanity V, according to a statement issued yesterday by Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI.

2. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has relieved Engr. Buba Galadima of his appointment as the Chairman of the Governing Council, Kano State Polytechnic. This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.

3. Another fire outbreak has erupted at Kano’s popular Singer Market, destroying shops in the Gidan Glass section of the market situated along Ado Bayero Road by Murtala Muhammad Way. The incident, which started Saturday afternoon, is the second fire outbreak at the market in less than two weeks.

4. Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has called for a thorough investigation into claims by former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai that he accessed an intercepted phone conversation of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. Onanuga, in a post on X, described El-Rufai’s public disclosure as a confession and questioned whether the former governor and unnamed associates possess wire tapping capabilities.

5. Following the trending video of Boko Haram victims, Kwara State government has affirmed its commitment to the safe return of the victims abducted last week. In a related development, residents of Oyun Local Government Area are fleeing the area over a fresh notification of an imminent attack.

6. Terrorists have reportedly invaded some communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, killing no fewer than 26 people. A police station was also attacked in the same local government.

7. A female pedestrian and member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries was fatally struck by a Mercedes-Benz C-300 driver in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday at the NYSC Bus Stop, Igando area of Lagos State. The victim was reportedly on her way to a worship service at MFM Church, Igando, when the accident occurred.

8. The Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, has apprehended a 26-year-old suspect allegedly behind the production and distribution of adulterated engine oil across Nigeria. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Gbenga Afolayan, confirmed this in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.

9. Tragedy struck on Saturday as a clash between some members of the Benue and Hausa communities at a fruit market in Oil Mill, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State led to the death of one person.
Trouble started when a trader at the market asked a wheelbarrow pusher, identified as Zakara Afaaruwu, to make space for him to keep his goods, which the latter refused.

10. A former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Idi Hong, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Adamawa. Hong, who also served as Minister of State for Health, announced his defection on Saturday in his hometown, Hong, before supporters and political associates.
