NAUB Governing Council visits to chief of Defence

NAUB GOVERNING COUNCIL AND MANAGEMENT PAY COURTESY VISIT TO CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF

A high-level delegation from the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) conducted a formal courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General OO OLUYEDE at the Defence Headquarters on January 21, 2026. The visit was to congratulate the CDS on his appointment and his recent promotion to the distinguished rank of General.

The delegation was led by the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of NAUB Governing Council, Dr. Awwal Bawa Moriki, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawan Bala Buratai, along with other principal officers of the University.

During the visit, the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman NAUB Governing Couning introduced the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawan Bala Buratai who expressed deep appreciation to the CDS for his steadfast support of the Institution, particularly during periods of financial challenge.

He provided updates on the NAUB Bill currently before the National Assembly, acknowledging the vital support of Senator Ali Ndume in ensuring the University remains a specialized institution under the Nigerian Army.

Prof. Buratai also highlighted the University’s commitment to military advancement through academic research, innovation and the upcoming establishment of the Military Performance Management Center, a facility designed to enhance operational efficiency.

In his response, the Chief of Defence Staff General OO OLUYEDE thanked the University leadership for their visit and reaffirmed his commitment to the Institution’s growth and development. The CDS charged the University management to prioritize Research and Development (R&D) that serves the broader needs of the Nigerian Armed Forces, emphasizing that the University must remain relevant to the national security sector by justifying the resources invested in it.


Principal officers that form Part of the delegation are:

  • Col. AY Bello – Deputy Vice Chancellor (Military)
  • Lt. Col. OS Job – Registrar
  • Brig. Gen. A. Dadan-Garba (Rtd) – DG, TY Buratai Institute for War and Peace
  • Lt. Col. B. Ahmadu – Librarian
  • Mohammed Salisu – Bursar, NAUB
  • Mr. Omotemi – Representative of the Minister of Education

The visit concluded with the presentation of a commemorative portrait to the CDS and the signing of the Visitors’ Book by the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman NAUB Governing Council.

The Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) is a specialized military university focused on research, innovation, and technology to support the Nigerian Army and the nation’s security architecture.
