The Chairman of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, through his legal representative, has filed a formal corruption petition against the former Managing Director of the Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed, at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. This move follows the withdrawal of the same petition from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

3. The 26 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly seeking the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara declared on Friday that they were pressing ahead with their plan just as the  apex socio-political organization in the  South-South, Pan Niger Delta Forum activated a high-powered machinery to stop the plot. The lawmakers, in an update, said the impeachment process  “ is fully on course”.

4. For the first time since President Donald Trump shifted his focus on insecurity in Nigeria, he has admitted that Muslims are also victims of killings. In an interview with New York Times, Trump admitted that not a single religion is being affected, but even at that, he claimed that Christians were the major victims.

5. A National Industrial Court of Nigeria in Abuja has issued an interim injunction restraining the planned strike by the Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) planned for Monday, January 12. Justice E. D. Subilim on Friday also restrained the President of the resident doctors, Dr Mohammad Usman Suleiman and the secretary, Dr Shuaibu Ibrahim.

7. President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will spend a total of N9,364,349,417 on local and foreign travels, as well as food and refreshments in the 2026 fiscal year. 9. Police operatives attached to the Assakio Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have successfully stormed kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages of Lafia East Development Area in the Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
