Nigerian indigenous singer and fast-rising talent, Wina No1, is back again with another beautiful sound titled “Basu Kunya.”
The title, which comes from Hausa, simply means “Disgrace Them.”
This new track is a sweet mixture of English and Hausa languages, and Wina uses it to speak his truth. In the song, he talks about how some people say he will not make it, and how others call him names like “dan iska” (a useless or spoiled child). But Wina is not moved.
According to Wina No1, “Basu Kunya is a message from my heart to the world. I am coming from nothing, but I know I will become somebody.”
He says many people don’t believe he will blow in the industry, but he believes in himself. Wina has faced discrimination, intimidation, and people trying to spoil his name, but he didn’t fall. Instead, he keeps pushing because he knows one day, his success will shock those who doubted him.
“From nobody to somebody” that is the journey Wina No1 is telling with Basu Kunya.
