Good morning, world! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers;

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday held separate closed-door consultations with the governors of Kaduna, Benue, and Cross River states at the State House, Abuja, amid ongoing security and governance challenges in parts of the country. The governors, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, and Bassey Otu of Cross River, arrived at the State House at different times before proceeding to meetings with the President.

2. Dangote Petroleum Refinery has once again reduced the gantry price of petrol, lowering the ex-depot rate from N828 to N699 per litre. According to real-time market data from Petroleumprice.ng on Friday, the refinery implemented a fresh downward adjustment, slicing N129 per litre off the Premium Motor Spirit benchmark price, a 15.58% reduction.

3. The Kano State Government has issued an executive order proscribing a group operating under the name “Independent Hisbah Fisabilillahi”. The order signed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and dated December 8, 2025, said the government had uncovered ongoing recruitment, training, and mobilisation of youths into the group without lawful authority.

4. The Supreme Court on Friday overruled the pardon granted by President Bola Tinubu to an Abuja-based house wife, Maryam Sanda, and affirmed the death sentence handed out to her by lower courts. Justice Moore Adumein in the lead judgment held that the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt as required, adding that the Court of Appeal was right to have affirmed the judgment of the trial court.

5. Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has reiterated his support for a single-term tenure for governors, arguing that it would promote productivity and enhance governance. Bago stated that he would have taken stricter actions against some officials if not for the upcoming election, noting that a single-term system would allow leaders to act more decisively without political pressure.

8. Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, covering Nasarawa, Benue, and Taraba States have killed three criminals in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The criminals reportedly belonged to a notorious syndicate responsible for widespread insecurity, including repeated kidnappings across Ukum LGA.
