Good morning, Nigeria. Here is today’s summary from Nigerian major Newspapers;

‎1. Rivers State lawmakers on Thursday disagreed with Governor Siminalayi Fubara on his claims that some elders were frustrating his meeting with them (lawmakers). Assembly Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, who spoke in Port Harcourt, the state capital, described as disparaging the governor’s assertion that Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike failed to fulfil his promise of arranging a meeting between him and the legislators.

2. There was palpable tension at Creek Haven, the Bayelsa seat of power, on Thursday, after Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Deputy Governor, collapsed and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa. The deputy governor was later reported dead.

3. The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has criticised Nigeria’s political leadership, accusing the elite of undermining national development by treating public office as a personal and family enterprise rather than a platform for public service. Sanusi made the remarks while speaking at the 15th anniversary of Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria in Lagos.

4. The United States Coast Guard, in collaboration with the US Navy, has intercepted a Nigerian-owned supertanker, Skipper, over allegations of crude oil theft, piracy, and other transnational crimes. The vessel, a 20-year-old Very Large Crude Carrier, VLCC, is reportedly owned and managed by Nigeria-based Thomarose Global Ventures Ltd., though its registered owner is listed as Triton Navigation Corp., headquartered in the Marshall Islands.

5. The 8 Division and Sector 2 Joint Task Force, JTF North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, OPFY, has strengthened its operational capacity with the graduation of 60 soldiers from its rigorous Fourth Quarter Basic Battle Course. The ceremony marked the completion of an intensive nine-week training programme designed to instil a warrior mindset and improve the combat readiness of participating troops.

6. The United States congressional delegation, led by Congressman Riley Moore, has concluded its fact-finding mission to Nigeria over alleged genocide and is expected to brief President Donald Trump before the end of the month. The lawmaker made this known in an interview he posted on his official X handle.

7. A 36-year-old realtor, Yinka Agboola, has been killed after a yet-to-be-identified driver allegedly knocked him down during a dispute over a parking space at Royal Pine Estate on Orchid Road, Lekki, Lagos State. An X user, @Ifeoluwaar, who raised the alarm in a series of posts on Thursday, disclosed that the driver had earlier been offered an alternative parking spot after residents found his vehicle obstructing the road.

8. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has sealed the corporate headquarters of Ikeja Electric for allegedly leaving 19 residential units without electricity for about 30 months. The commission disclosed in a statement on Thursday that this occurred despite the complainant, who owns the 19 units, paying all charges requested by Ikeja Electric and fulfilling every obligation.

9. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 13 suspected hoodlums in connection with the assault on a police officer in the Oshodi area of the state. A viral video on Thursday showed the officer sitting on the ground with blood dripping from his mouth as an irate crowd encircled him.

10. Nigeria’s petrol import bill fell sharply in the first nine months of 2025, dropping by N6.07tn compared with the same period of 2024, according to an analysis of the National Bureau of Statistics trade data. The value of imported motor spirit, ordinary, stood at N5.42tn between January and September 2025, far below the N11.50tn recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
