‎1. The Niger Police Command has confirmed the release of the remaining 130 abducted students and staff of St. Mary Catholic School, Papiri, in the Agwara Local Government Area of Niger. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Minna.

2. Normal traffic flow was on Sunday, restored on the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway after a weekend disruption caused by a standoff between truck drivers and military personnel, the Federal Government has said. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the restoration following hours of gridlock that left thousands of road users stranded along the corridor during the festive travel period.

3. Fire outbreak has destroyed the Sabuwar Lale furniture market located in Tal’udu, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State. Eyewitnesses said the fire started at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday and spread rapidly across the market, burning many shops before officials of the Kano State Fire Service arrived.

4. Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted terrorist logistics heading to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists enclave in Borno State. The operation took place on Friday along Maiduguri–Bama Road, after similar terrorist logistics supplies were intercepted in the state a few days earlier.

5. No fewer than 42 Nigerians have been deported from Ghana’s Ashanti Region following rulings by various courts over alleged prostitution, fraud, and other related offences. The development was disclosed in a Facebook post on Thursday, December 18, 2025, by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene.

6. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested Shodunke Yetunde Simbiat, a wanted leader of a drug syndicate, who had been in hiding since May 2024 following the arrest of two other kingpins, Bolanle Lookman Dauda and Olayinja Toheebat Dauda. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said Simbiat was apprehended at her Lagos residence, where officers recovered 23.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed in her children’s room.

7. The Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an order directing the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force to immediately unseal and vacate the party’s national secretariat and other offices across the country.

8. The Defence Headquarters has announced that proactive measures are in place to prevent attacks during the Christmas festivities across Nigeria. In a statement on Sunday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Michael Onoja, said the Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with other security agencies, had intensified operations in identified vulnerable areas.

9. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has rolled out a traffic control strategy, including the deployment of drones and other technology-driven devices, to ensure seamless vehicular movement across the state during the annual Detty December festivities. The agency said the initiative was put in place in anticipation of the surge in socio-economic activities usually associated with the yuletide season.

10. Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced nationwide sale of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) at a pump price of N739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations, marking a significant milestone in the refinery’s mission to deliver affordable fuel to Nigerians and stabilise the downstream petroleum market.
