Good morning, world. Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers. Things you need to know.

‎1. An unspecified number of travelers have reportedly been killed following a bomb explosion along the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Yazid Abubakar confirmed the incident to Daily Post on Saturday.

2. Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Saturday, expressed deep sadness over the tragic motor accident that claimed the lives of seven persons from the Lawanti community in the Akko Local Government Area. The victims were reportedly on their way to Maiduguri, Borno State, to attend a wedding ceremony.

3. The Kano State Hisba Board has arrested nine young girls for allegedly engaging in prostitution, popularly referred to as “Good Evening Girls.” The Board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, disclosed this in a statement made available to The Punch on Saturday.

4. Reports indicate that 74 candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections are facing possible disqualification following unresolved leadership crises within the party. This comes as the Labour Party has been completely shut out of the polls, having presented no candidates on the final list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission on September 22, 2025.

5. The Super Eagles of Nigeria scored twice in the second half to seal a 3-2 win over Tunisia in their Africa Cup of Nations Group C encounter at the Fez stadium on Saturday. Victor Osimhen, captain Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman were all on the scoresheet as Nigeria won the battle of the Eagles, sealing passage to the knockout phase of the tournament.

7. There are indications that suspected terrorists in the North are relocating following the missile attacks carried out by the United States of America on Thursday night. Credible community leaders told journalists that they noticed movements as the hoodlums migrated in small numbers after the Christmas Day attacks.

8. Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old casual worker in connection with the alleged killing of a fellow staff member within the Gombe Government House premises. The incident occurred on Thursday, December 26, 2025, and involved two casual staff members working at the Government House, the police said in a statement issued on Saturday.

9. The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has boosted the ranks of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State with the defection of two prominent members of the New Nigeria People’s Party. The defectors are Special Assistant to the Governor in the Office of the Head of Service, Umar Haruna, and Organising Secretary of the NNPP in Bichi Ward, Bichi Local Government Area, Muhammad Hussaini.

10. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday said he is the most abused politician in Nigeria after President Bola Tinubu. Wike spoke in Ochigba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, during a meeting with the LG’s Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stakeholders.
