2. No fewer than twelve people died while two were injured in a road accident involving a passenger bus along the Ejule/ Enugu highway in Kogi State late Friday night. It was gathered on Saturday that the accident involved an 18-seater Toyota Hiace Bus belonging to Romchi Mass Transit, which occurred around 11:30 p.m. at the Iboko community in Idah Local Government Area of the State.

3. President Bola Tinubu on Saturday arrived in Lagos State for the end-of-year holidays. He had visited Borno and Bauchi states earlier in the day, as part of his three-state official tour.

4. Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old housewife, Misturah Bada, and her accomplice, Adedamola Daniel, 30, for allegedly faking her own kidnapping and extorting N2.5 million from her husband, who resides in South Africa. A press statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspects were apprehended following investigations into a reported kidnap case that was later discovered to be staged.

5. Kebbi State Government has denied claims that it was responsible for the ongoing ordeal of the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, who is currently being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. According to the government, the petitions against Malami being investigated by the EFCC did not originate from it.

6. Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has said terrorists neither respect nor represent any religion, noting that they are merely seeking available targets to attack. He said those perpetrating crimes across the country are common criminals waging war against citizens of all faiths.

7. Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Nwabali for allegedly shooting police officers at a checkpoint in Ipele, Owo Local Government Area of the state. The suspect was said to be among three men who carried out the attack. Two police officers and a woman sustained injuries during the incident.

8. The All Progressives Congress has released a comprehensive schedule of activities for its 2025/2026 nationwide ward, local government, state and zonal congresses, culminating in the party’s national convention. The APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, released the schedule via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday.

9. The African Democratic Congress has called for the immediate suspension of Nigeria’s new tax laws, alleging that critical sections were modified after approval by the National Assembly and assent by President Bola Tinubu, a development the party described as a grave constitutional breach. In a statement issued on Saturday by ADC’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party warned that altering legislation after approval by the legislature raises concerns that Tinubu is seeking to centralise power.

10. The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, on Saturday re-elected Dr Ahmed Ajujia as its National Chairman. Ajuji was re-elected unopposed through voice votes at the party’s National Convention held in Abuja.
