‎1. President Bola Tinubu on Friday presented a N58.18 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly, outlining tougher security measures, stricter fiscal discipline, and deeper economic reforms. Presenting the proposal, the President said the budget is aimed at consolidating recent macroeconomic gains, restoring investor confidence, and translating economic recovery into jobs and improved living standards for Nigerians.

2. The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan, Friday, met with the contending factions of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abuja, insisting that the commission would be guided strictly by the constitution, the electoral act and its regulations in all dealings with political parties ahead of the forthcoming elections.

3. Former lawmaker, who represented Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, is dead.

Reacting to the development, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former lawmaker, describing his death as a great loss to Delta State, the Anioma nation and Nigeria as a whole.

4. Senate President Godswill Akpabio has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the directive withdrawing police orderlies from members of the National Assembly, citing safety concerns.

Akpabio made the plea on Friday during the presentation of the 2026 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly, warning that some lawmakers feared they might be unable to return home safely following the withdrawal.

5. President Bola Tinubu will on Saturday depart Abuja on a three-state visit to Borno, Bauchi and Lagos states. In Borno State, the President is expected to commission several projects executed by the Babagana Zulum administration in collaboration with the Federal Government.

6. The United Kingdom Government has granted emergency visa extensions to hundreds of foreign prison staff, the majority of whom were Nigerians at risk of deportation since changes were made to UK visa rules in July this year. The British Broadcasting Corporation reported on Friday that the move followed warnings that several prisons were facing an acute staffing crisis.

7. President Bola Tinubu has vowed that his administration will show no mercy to terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and their sponsors. He also declared a renewed offensive against violent crime as part of a sweeping reset of the country’s security architecture. Tinubu made the pledge while presenting the N58.18tn 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday.

8. Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a woman, Rita Ughale, of Kokori community in Ethiope East Local Government Area, following her incrimination in the alleged sale of her two-month-old baby. She reportedly sold the baby boy to a couple, Osas Omijie (39) and Judith Omijie (30), for the sum of N1,500,000.

9. Former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party will weather its current internal crisis, insisting that the opposition party is far from extinction. Saraki spoke on Friday in Ilorin, Kwara State, at the PDP Youth Summit organised by the state chapter to mark his 63rd birthday.

10. The Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology, Kachia, Kaduna State (NNSAT), on Friday graduated 323 personnel from Quarter Armourer and Fire Control I–III courses. The Guest of Honour at the maiden gunnery regimental graduation ceremony, Governor Uba Sani, said the event marked a historic milestone celebrating discipline, commitment and professional excellence of the graduands.
