“TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN; MY LAST NOTE ON THE NASARAWA ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY” — MacJames

MY LAST NOTE ON THE NASARAWA ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

James Emmanuel Onawo, otherwise known as MacJames, has again weighed in on the recent, most debated issue surrounding Nasarawa Entertainment, which is linked to the legendary 2Baba’s recent visit to the state.

His Words Below…

This outcry is mostly by the musical artist because obviously they are affected the most. A musical artist in Nigeria should not be compared to a dancer, producer or any other.

Comparing musicians and comedians doesn’t sit well with me and I don’t think it will… Ever! The music world is like an overcrowded and congested world where navigation to the top is almost impossible while striving alone. It’s way easier for comedians.

But if it’s a call for collaboration of different talents for collective growth then I tip my cap in respect 🫡 because it’s most needed rather than the pride, differences, unhealthy competitions and dark image paintings.

I don’t have to mention names, but a significant number of artists here are trying and toiling day and night and still not get paid, patronized nor encouraged. It’s only a matter time before they get exhausted as age and other responsibilities will definitely chop them off the game. It’s either age or they will join the OGs sooner or later; becoming irrelevant for the audience of the time/trend.

It hurts different to look back into your sacrifices and spendings on something unfruitful. It’s quite unfortunate that the government is not a support system for entertainers.

Plus, we are in a space where companies and or private organizations which are the supposed support system are lacking. It’s then safe to say artists here are farmers cultivating a desert – expecting bumper harvest 😢

For these external and influential private firms (which are not found here) to be interested in an act, we all know the height an act must attain to cause such attraction.

It can never be alone! Never without a foundational link, connect and support. By support, I mean, cash and kind.

Currently, the industry is broken, fatally in pieces. No support from fellow acts, no companies or private businesses or individuals interested in promoting acts. The government of the people, for the people is not to be looked up to. I say the latter because I know of proposals submitted on countless times by different act groups and individuals that were watered down the nearest drainages.

To this end, I ses Gimba Emmanuel Shekwololo, Lahi, Ozee Ozotu Godwin, FirstKlazz, Agbutun, Nas T Breed Politicscs, Agidis Nnyezwasi, Wududu, Shedizko Dre, IQ and a whole lot of talents doing the most they can. Abi them never reach to be supported at grassroot level? Even to introduce an act or some acts to a big name for at least encouragement? Let’s drop the cash aside. Too bad it’s not a thing to mention. 💔

Additionally, to all Nasarawa musical artists, if you really value your talent and want to prove your worth, take advantage of the social media to sell yourself the best way you can. Don’t forget a lot of acts were discovered by their works on the media.

The message and reality has never been this clear! Get a hustle to sell yourself to an irresistible height.

Double up your craft or quit even before it started. The game is no longer as it used to be! A lot of creative must be fused in one. You never can tell where help might come knocking from.

May God locate the NASARAWA Industry.
While we hope on God, I enjoin every single entertainer our there to get his/her hand and brain on other profitable work/job or business. That way, we would be more focused and control dependency.

Perhaps, music or entertainment is a gift and not your success stand. No be every body success lane be entertainment.
God bless every soul that has fought for the industry. May your efforts never go in vain.
