UNRULY PASSENGER CHARITY EMMASON DRAGGED OFF IBOM AIR FLIGHT AFTER VIOLENT ATTACK ON CREW
Drama in the Sky: Ibom Air Passenger Dragged Off Plane, Clothes Torn After Violent OutburstWhat was supposed to be a smooth Uyo to Lagos flight on Ibom Air turned into pure drama on Sunday, August 10, 2025, when a passenger, Miss Charity Emmason, went from “I no go gree” to full-blown fight mode.
According to Ibom Air’s official statement, the trouble started even before the flight took off from Uyo. Crew members politely told Miss Emmason to switch off her mobile phone – normal aviation safety procedure. She refused, until the Pilot-in-Command made an announcement and the passenger sitting next to her switched it off for her. That small action sparked a heated exchange, but things calmed down and the flight took off.
However, on arrival in Lagos, instead of simply walking off the plane like every other passenger, Miss Emmason waited until almost everyone had disembarked before attacking the Purser (the lead flight attendant). In a shocking scene, she allegedly stepped on her, tore off her wig, removed her glasses, and used her footwear to beat her. She even slapped another crew member who tried to help.
As if that was not enough, she reportedly tried to pull out a fire extinguisher to use as a weapon – something that could have damaged the aircraft. The Pilot quickly called airport security, but by the time they arrived, Miss Emmason was still not calming down. She allegedly attacked Ibom Air’s own security personnel and even slapped the ground supervisor after being forced off the plane.
She was eventually restrained and handed over to FAAN security and later the Nigeria Police for further investigation. Ibom Air says she is now permanently banned from flying with them and may face legal action.
The airline praised its crew for handling the tense situation and reminded passengers to always obey flight safety instructions. Their message was clear: Ibom Air has zero tolerance for unruly behaviour in the air.
