2BABA STORMS LAFIA FOR ANTI-VIOLENCE AND DRUG ABUSE TOUR AS NASARAWA ARTISTES RAISE CONCERNS AS STATE GOVERNMENT IGNORES HOME BASED MUSICIANS

Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba formerly 2 Face arrived in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, for his awareness campaign against violence and drug abuse. The tour, which is part of his ongoing advocacy for peace and youth development, saw the music icon welcomed by Governor Abdullahi Sule, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, and other top government officials.

2Baba, who was accompanied by his wife, Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, engaged in a city-wide tour of Lafia, drawing excitement among fans and residents who trooped out to catch a glimpse of the star.

While the move has been praised as a positive step towards addressing pressing social issues, it has also sparked heated reactions within the entertainment industry in Nasarawa State. Home based entertainers, under the umbrella of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), expressed disappointment over being sidelined once again by the state government.

According to them, no artiste from Nasarawa was invited to participate in welcoming 2Baba, performing at the concert, or joining the tour an exclusion that has been heavily criticized by both artistes and fans.

Many argue that despite the presence of vibrant talents within the state, the government has consistently failed to engage homegrown entertainers in high-profile entertainment projects, preferring instead to rely solely on outside stars.

The incident has drawn conversations about the need for the government to invest more in local talents and create platforms for them to thrive, rather than leaving them on the sidelines whenever big names come into the state.
