NASARAWA STATE AND THE ENTERTAINMENT SCENE: A CALL FOR SUPPORT BY GODWIN ZAKI

Nasarawa State strives to carve its name in the entertainment industry, but ironically, some of its own people are discouraging initiatives aimed at celebrating homegrown talent.

Take the recent controversy surrounding the Nasarawa Industry And Celebrity Award Monetary Voting Awards, for example.

The awards, which were meant to recognize and appreciate home entertainers based on nominations, have come under fire. Some critics argue against the pay-to-vote system.

Godwin Zaki, a renowned fish farmer and socialite in Nasarawa State, has weighed in on the issue, stating: “Charity begins at home.” Zaki emphasizes the importance of supporting and appreciating local talents, urging the community to focus on growth rather than division.

While the pay-to-vote system may seem unusual, it is one way the organizers have chosen to sustain the event and make it worthwhile. Instead of criticizing, Zaki encourages constructive conversations that will uplift the industry and ensure homegrown talents get the recognition they deserve.

As Nasarawa State continues its journey in the entertainment scene, it’s up to the people to decide whether to support or discourage initiatives aimed at appreciating and encouraging creativity. After all, no one will celebrate us if we don’t celebrate ourselves.

Let’s remember: Charity begins at home.
