NAS T BREED: REVIVING HIS TRADITION THROUGH MUSIC
Nigerian rapper Nas T Breed, from Doma in Nasarawa State, is making waves with his decision to focus on traditional music in his native Alago language. Known for his earlier works in English and Hausa rap, the artiste is now fully embracing his cultural roots.
The rapper made some shocking revelation via Facebook on the 3rd January, 2025.
In a heartfelt message, Nas T Breed said:
“If Alago language is not as big as Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa, am I doing it any good by not promoting it?”
The rapper revealed that he recorded his first Alago tribal music track, “Oshumotu”, in 2009. While his shift to traditional music drew criticism and cost him some supporters, Nas T Breed remained focus. However he mentioned some notable entertainers who have contributed to his career such as brother, KOK, Slodge, Kefas Elisha Tigga, Sircidy, and Shekx.
“I told myself that I’m getting older, and I must redirect my music to suit my age and also do something unique.”
In 2024, his older brother Innocent Kok Attah stepped in with significant support, giving him the push to further his vision. One of his latest tracks, “Adagba“, has been warmly received, even by other artists, proving that music transcends language barriers.
Nas T Breed also addressed criticism and challenges artists face in Nasarawa:
“Here in Nasarawa, they will criticize you out of hate. If you mind them, na you sabi.”
Despite the obstacles, the rapper continues to gain recognition and rewards, earning a reputation as one of the highest paid home based artistes in the state.
Nas T Breed believes in staying authentic and encourages others to embrace their uniqueness:
“Most of you are afraid to be you… English rap didn’t do none of this for me. I live in Doma, and I’ve been gifted money and material things more than I can recall.”
His dedication to his culture and vision is inspiring, and his journey is just beginning. Please salute the realest Nas T wherever you come across him.
