Eyewitnesses revealed that residents, angered by the continuous attacks in the area, chased the suspects. While some escaped, two were caught and set on fire by the mob.

A resident confirmed the event, stating, “This morning, suspected cultists were robbing people of phones and money. They’ve been terrorising us, especially in the mornings, at noon, and late evenings. Today, the mob caught two of them and set them ablaze.”

The Plateau State Police Command also confirmed the incident in a statement by its spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred.

According to the statement, the police received a distress call at 9:20am, about a mob action in the area. Officers were deployed immediately to the scene, where they recovered two charred bodies and two locally made pistols allegedly used by the suspects. The bodies were later deposited at a hospital morgue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, condemned both the criminal activities and the mob’s actions. He stressed that jungle justice is unlawful and urged citizens to report suspects to the police for proper investigation and prosecution.
