NANS exonerate NSUK VC over SUG Elections

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi(NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, over the alleged irregularities that marred the Wednesday’s elections of the Students Union Government of the state-owned university.

Comrade Imrana Yusuf, the Secretary of the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS), in Nasarawa State disclosed this on Thursday and admonished students to remain calm as aspirants have signed a pact with University’s management to constitute a committee in order to resolve the matter amicably.

Yusuf lamented that the exercise were tampered in the faculties of Arts and Education, despite the level-playing field provided by the Professor Sa’adatu-led management to ensure free and credible election.

On the unrest at the main campus of the University which led to the deployment of security operatives who fired teargas to disperse protesting students, Yusuf said it was influenced by external force.

He however vowed to resist the decision of the committee set up by the University’s management if it’s not in favor of Nigerian Students.

Meanwhile, the management of the state-owned citadel of learning has suspended the elections to allow for frayed nerves to be calm and forestall any perceived breakdown of law and order on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, announced the suspension when she addressed the contending aspirants of the Students Union Government in the Senate Chamber.
