Mr. Barnie Egbon leads a delegation from One Acre Fund to meet with Nasarawa State Commissioner of Environment and Mineral Resources, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, ahead of the 1 million free tree distribution to 30,000 farmers.
In a bid to strengthen partnerships and promote sustainable farming practices, Barnie Egbon, leading a delegation from One Acre Fund’s Government Relations and Partnerships Team, met with Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, Nasarawa State Commissioner of Environment and Mineral Resources.
The meeting comes ahead of the 1 million free tree distribution to 30,000 farmers across three Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nasarawa State, starting this July. One Acre Fund has established 51 tree nurseries across Lafia, Nasarawa Eggon, and Obi LGAs, raising over 1 million seedlings for distribution.
This initiative is part of One Acre Fund’s larger goal to distribute 6 million free trees to 220,000 farmers in Nasarawa, Niger, and Kwara states in 2024. In 2023, the organization successfully distributed 2.5 million trees to 110,000 farmers in Niger state.
