Darlyn Morais, a popular Brazilian singer, has died due to complications from a spider bite.
Morais became ill after being bitten by a spider on October 31, at his home in the northeastern city of Miranorte.
Also, his 18-year-old stepdaughter, who also suffered a spider bite, is currently hospitalised.
The singer’s wife, Jhullyenny Lisboa told Brazilian news outlet, G1, that the stepdaughter was in a stable condition.
She said Morais began to experience symptoms of fatigue and noticed a change in the colour of the bruise on his face following the spider bite.
“He felt weakness in his body and his face started to darken on the same day.
“Morais developed allergic reactions later during the week and visited a hospital in Miranorte, where he was treated and discharged Friday,” she said.
The Morais family shared a heartfelt message on the late singer’s Instagram account, expressing their gratitude for the outpouring of support. When translated from Portuguese, their statement read, “The family of Dylan Marais would like to thank you all for your kind words of support at this time of such great pain. To our Eternal Singer, our feeling of gratitude to each one of you… We are grateful once again for the love of all.”
Darlyn Morais embarked on his music career at the tender age of 15, delving into the forro genre. He was also a part of a three-member band, which included his brother and a friend, regularly performing in the states of Tocantins, Goias, Maranhao, and Para.
His cousin Wesleya Silva shared, “He was always surrounded by friends, and it was always a reason to celebrate for him. Always very happy and smiling with everyone around him. Owner of a giant heart, always helping the people around him.”
The music world mourns the loss of this young and talented Brazilian singer, whose infectious spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
