Taylor Swift Dominates 2022 VMAs With Multiple Wins
Pop superstar Taylor Swift was the big winner at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home multiple honors including top prizes for Artist of the Year and Video of the Year.
Swift’s melancholic 2022 single “Anti-Hero” earned her an impressive eight nominations, and she went on to win all categories in which she was nominated during the televised ceremony.
This marks a milestone night for Swift after the release of her record-breaking album “Midnights.”
For the first time since the Artist of the Year prize debuted in 2017, all nominees in the category were female artists – a remarkable feat. Alongside Swift, the historic all-women lineup included Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj, and Shakira.
Colombian singer Shakira was presented with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award for her impact on music video and popular culture.
Adding to the female empowerment theme, the VMAs introduced an inaugural Best Afrobeats category this year.
The evening was filled with electric performances from Demi Lovato, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B and more.
