Basketmouth, the popular Nigerian comedian whose real name is Bright Okpocha, has revealed his intention to retire from comedy within the next five years.
During an interview on an online radio program by hitz1039fm, Basketmouth stated that he has been “floating” for the past six years and decided last year to return to comedy for five years before quitting.
Basketmouth expressed his desire to continue cracking jokes but not as a professional comedian.
He mentioned that if he performs at any gig in the future, it would be pro bono, but he would not charge anyone to perform again.
The comedian stated that he has earned enough money and has dedicated himself enough to the art of comedy to take a break or retire.
Basketmouth also revealed his interest in movies, series, and concert production. He wants to explore new ventures and be remembered for something other than comedy.
In a recent post on his Instagram page, he wrote, “I’ve got 5 more years before I drop the mic…and I intend to make every single year count.”
