All is set for the one day Jema’a local government peace summit tagged ” Stakeholders Forum For Community Peace Actions and Sustainable Development” slated for Thursday 17th December at Unity Wonder Land Hotel Kafanchan at 8:30 AM.
The summit which is the thought-product of the council Chairman, Hon Peter Danjuma Averik is facilitated by the Nigerian Early Recovery Initiative (NERI), component of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID OTI-NERI) Kafanchan.
By intent and design, the forum would bring together 250 stakeholders and key Community Peace actors from across the social divides and communities in the local government to x-ray critical issues with implication to peace and make consensus on drivers of conflict and instability in the local government at large.
The council Chairman and USAID/OTI-NERI have high hopes for the event as the outcomes therefrom would form the solid base upon which the local government in partnership with USAID/OTI-NERI would build its peace engagements and other intervention activities.
The participants are therefore enjoined to approach the event devoid of any mundane and primordial attachments and to see the forum as a fertile opportunity to ventilate grey areas of conflicts in their respective communities and to as well suggest practical actions that, if implemented, would reduce incidences of crisis and further the cause of peace and sustainable Community development.
A communique or a memorandum of peace and enduring understanding amongst the complex diverse social communities in the local government is expected at the end of the peace summit.
Hon Averik wish all the participants a safe journey to Kafanchan, the capital town of Jema’a local government and looks forward to a successful outcome.
