Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has approved October fifth for resumption of private and public primary and secondary schools in the state for third term 2019/ 2020 academic session.

The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hajiya Fatu Sabo stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Lafia.

Hajiya Fatu Sabo said the decision to re-open the schools was reached following satisfactory preparations and series of consultations at different levels with stakeholders on the need to put all Covid 19 protocols in place to make the schools safe for academic activities.

She stated that the state government had procured more Covid 19 safety facilities such as hand sanitizers, infrared thermometers, detergents and face masks among others for distribution to all the schools.

The Commissioner also pointed out that heads of schools have been directed to enforce mandatory wearing of face masks for staff and students, personal hygiene such as hand washing and application of hand sanitizers as well as maintaining social distance in their schools to avoid further spread of the Covid 19.
