The executive Chairman Jema’a Local Government Hon Peter Danjuma Averik has appealed to the people to remain calm, peaceful and not to take the laws into their hands as additional security personnel have been deployed and mobilised to ensure the protection of peoples’ lives and property.

The appeal is coming on the heels of the heinous attack on zikpak community in Maigizo ward, Jema’a local government on Friday evening by a notorious band of Marauders suspected to be Fulani herdsmen which led to the dead of community members and several houses burnt.

The chairman described the attack as mindless, callous, barbaric, unprovoked and evil.

He consoled the people of Zikpak community especially families that lost their loved relations in the attack, and others who might have lost theirs in other incidences and admonished them to consider it as an act of God.

Hon Averik commended the youth of zikpak community and the local government at large for the matured way they conducted themselves in the face of the unfortunate incident and encouraged them to shun the temptation of reprisal but to allow vengeance to God, noting that no evil shall escape the suffocating wrath of God.

He called on the people to observed the 24 hours curfew imposed by the State Government and to be vigilant and report any suspected person or moves to the security personnel for prompt security attention.

The chairman commended the security personnel in the area for their proactiveness and tasked them to intensify their patrol and surveillance to ensure that the criminal element are arrested and dealt with.

Hon Averik called on the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), cooperate organizations and spirited individuals to come to the aid of the displaced victims of zikpak community attack and others in order to ameliorate the untold effects of the attack on them.

The chairman along side the Member Representing Jema’a constituency at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon Ali Kalat, and the Council Secretary Hon Amos Samaila visited the different hospitals where those who sustained injuries in the attack were receiving treatment and promised that the local government will assist in the best way it can.

Meanwhile, those who have lost their lives in the unfortunate incident were buried on Saturday with the Member Representing Jema’a Local Government constituency, Hon Ali Kalat, the Council chairman and secretary Hon Peter Danjuma Averik and Amos Samaila respectively among other dignitaries in attendance.
