The chairman of Jema’a Local Government area Hon Peter Danjuma Averik has ordered for the complete lockdown of kafanchan main market and other markets within the area from tommorow Thursday 26th March, 2020.

This decision is very crucial and necessary in view of the influx of people into the markets and the need to prevent the dreaded Corona virus pandemic from taking root and spreading in the local government.

However shop owners who sell drugs and food stuffs along the major streets other than the markets would be allowed to operate as long as they organise themselves and their customers to avoid crowdy situations within their business premises.

This decision is informed by a sincere sense of responsibility and commitment to ensure the safety of all the people in Jema’a Local Government against the Corona virus infection.

The local government is not prepared to lose anyone to this Covid-19 pandemic. Hence no precautionary measures or strategies taken towards this end would be too much.

Although the local government is much aware that this decision may cause little pain, we plead with the people to understand the situation and be patient as this would be just for a while.

The chairman has again called on all banks operating in Jema’a Local Government area to take precautionary measures to protect their customers from getting and spreading Convid-19 disease. Specifically, the Chairman is advising banks to provide hand sanitizers or water and soap for their customers and to ensure that no customer is allowed to operate the ATM without washing their hands.

Hon Averik assured the people that his Council is doing everything within its ability to secure the people from the Convid-19 pandemic.
