Two persons have been reportedly killed and 20 houses razed in a communal clash in Andaha, Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The clash was said to have occurred on Sunday when suspected Fulani youths assaulted a 19-year-old Mada girl, leading to her death in a hospital on Saturday.
The girl, alongside others, were said to be returning from a wedding party when the incident happened.
Angered by the incident, some Mada youths reportedly attacked a Fulani settlement at Maite in Ndem District, killing one person.
Some Fulani herders launched a reprisal attack on Mada.
Deputy Governor Silas Ali Agara, who visited the affected areas yesterday, said: “It is unfortunate for a community that has been living in peace for decades to engage each other in clashes that led to the death of two people. I call on you to tolerate one another and to always report to the authority anybody who breaches the peace and law of the community.”
He presented relief materials to the internally displaced persons in Andaha.
