Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, D’banj and Femi Kuti have been announced as performers at the Mandela 100 Global Citizen Festival alongside Jay Z and Beyonce.
The festival in honor of the former South African President, late Nelson Mandela, hopes to inspire social activism leveraging on the star power of celebrities from around the world to make a difference in the lives of youth.
The Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 will bring an end to a year-long collaboration with the House of Mandela and is inspired by the former leader of South Africa and his lifelong dedication to rallying people together to use their collective voices to speak for the most marginalized people.
The festival will feature performances from a host of global and local artists, including Jay Z, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Casper Nyovest alongside selected Nigerian stars in D’Banj, Wizkid, Femi Kuti and Tiwa Savage.
CEO of Global Citizens Hugh Evans, alongside supermodel Naomi Campbell and businessman Patrice Motsepe, on Monday, July 9, announced the lineup for the Global Citizen Festival to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 100th centenary.
The festival aims to celebrate the legacy of Mandela with the aim of ending extreme poverty by 2030.
