The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has reacted to a nationwide protest planned for Monday, December 11 by anti-SARS protesters.
Recalls that concerned Nigerians launched a campaign to scrap Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on social media last week Friday.
The move, according to some posts on the micro-blogging site, Twitter monitored by our reporter, was initiated due to alleged extrajudicia
l killings carried out by SARS officials.
Some of the Twitter users accused the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of carrying out extra-judicial killings and torture of innocent Nigerian citizens.
The #EndSARS campaign came at the time the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) gave Nigerians an opportunity to share their experience with SARS operatives.
Concerned with the complaints made by Nigerians on social media, Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on Monday, ordered the immediate reorganisation of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad across the country.
Adeyanju Deji confirmed that the #EndSars Rally will hold Nationwide and that the Police stands with Nigerians on this issue.

The aim of the campaigners is to compel the National Assembly and Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari to scrap the notorious squad, which was created by police leadership to combat armed robberies decades ago.
