Politicians can be anybody and do anything for power. Politicians kneel and beg for votes during elections; they scoff at voters when in power. Politicians are saints when seeking office; they become sinners as soon as they get into office.
Politicians speak the language of humility when they are nobody; they spit arrogance when they become somebody. Politicians worship God when in adversity; they expect God to worship them when in prosperity. Politicians are friends when the going is though; they are foes when the going is good. Politicians are the same everywhere: They are against the establishment at one time, and are for the establishment at some other time.
They are role models today, they are wrong models tomorrow. They may be men or women of integrity today, and be men or women of stupidity tomorrow. You idolise them today, they demonise themselves tomorrow. 99% of Nigerian politicians are worse off: they are betrayers and ingrates. They are ideologically bankrupt. They lack respect for human dignity. They turn coats at any point. They got no vision talk less of mission. They are political traders not political leaders. They got no conscience. They speak with both sides of their mouths. They are malicious. They have no patriotism. They have an unbriddle love for money and can do any thing to get it. Little wonder they do all sorts of evil, for “the love of money is the roots of all evil”.
No wonder they steal our resources. No wonder they kill innocent souls. No wonder they destroy our polity and communities. They are devils. They are satanic. They deny and defy God. They mock their Creator. They reduce humanity to the place of beasts. They withhold resources (money) to enslave the weak. They lord it over people. They deny people opportunities.
The youth are the unfortunate specie…always kept as preys and victims of circumstances. Raised as thugs and scape goats. Reared as domestic animals, fed at will, empoverished to beg at all times. We need the rise of a Godly generation of leaders. We need a visionary class of politicians. We need men and women with purpose and prospects. We need right people in right places at right times in right proportions. This is the challenge of 2019.
