Thirty people were killed early this morning by a teenage boy in a bloody suicide attack at a Mosque in Mubi, Adamawa State.
Information released by the Adamawa State Police Command revealed that the suicide attacks occurred at about 5:20 am local time, at Kunu Araha, a suburb in Mubi North by and was triggered by a teenage boy who set off the suicide vest he was wearing.
Adamawa police spokesman, Othman Abubakar while confirming the incident claimed that more than 30 persons lost their lives in the early dawn Mosque attacks.
“We were made to understand that there was a bomb blast at a mosque in Mubi and over 30 lives were lost. A boy of about 17-year-old wearing a suicide vest entered the mosque along with other worshippers. Immediately after the prayers, he detonated the bomb. Many of the wounded are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Mubi North where the attacks occurred around Kunu Araha area.” he said.
A report by Punch confirmed that several other persons were wounded in the attacks and are receiving medical attention at the various medical hospitals in Mubi Town.
Although emergency aid workers and other first responders who helped to provide first aid to the victims put the death toll in the attacks at 40.
An official working with the International Rescue Committee, Emma Adasolid among the first responders at the scene said about 40 dead bodies were evacuated from the scene of the blast.
