Many people claim they belong to an association, when they don’t even know the meaning of an association. I don’t really have to check the dictionary to know what an association means, so i am going to define it base on my own understanding. So what is an association?
An association is a group of individuals with a collective interest that come together to pursue or achieve a common goal. They pursue this goal by helping each other, supporting each and advising each other, amongst others.
Now, what qualifies Southern Kaduna Artistes to be an Association? It’s basically because of two reasons;
1. Our collective interest is Music.
2. Our common goal is to blow.
With that said, if Southern Kaduna Artistes Association is called an ‘Association’, then what makes it a joke and a flop?
As earlier pointed out, an Association supports each other. And how can we do that? It could be by promoting each other’s songs, advising each other on how to be better, organizing shows, concerts and events to showcase our talents, hosting seminars and Entertainment/Showbiz workshops to educate and sensitize each other, giving awards to well deserved artistes or probably by contributing money to pay for the studio session of dope artistes that can’t afford to pay for themselves. But what do we do in SKAA? We only argue, quarrel, condemn and criticise each other. The funny part of it all is that those that condemn and criticise are those kind of artistes that only release songs once in a year. And even at that, the song would still be wack.
Furthermore, a real association conducts meetings regularly, occassionaly or periodically. But ever since the emergence of SKAA (which is more than two years now), no meeting has ever been held. The artistes only meet on Social Media, and 90% of them have never met in real life. Who knows, maybe even the President and Vice President have never met in real life. Funny!
Moreso, who are the leaders? How were they voted? How long will their tenure last? That’s a puzzle that no one can answer.
So in my candid opinion, i suggest that the name ‘Southern Kaduna Artistes Association’ should be changed to ‘Southern Kaduna Artistes Critics Association’ or ‘Southern Kaduna Artistes Social Media Association. Because to say the truth, SKAA is nothing but a joke and a big flop. By BESTXPLORER and written by:
