President Buhari gave this commendation at the emblem launch for the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration (AFDC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He praised the Nigerian Legion for their steadfastness, perseverance and exemplary conducts as they continued to make meaningful contribution to the growth and development of the country even in retirement.
The theme for the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, “Motivating the Nigerian Armed Forces for Effective Service Delivery”, the President said is a special one which was carefully chosen to appreciate the landmark achievement of the gallant troops in the North East and would as well reassure Nigerians that the Armed Forces is committed to doing all in its power towards the return of peace to troubled areas in our nation.
The President urged Nigerians to procure the AFDC emblems, wear them with pride and donate generously in support of the Veterans, and the dependants of the fallen heroes. The proceed from the emblem launch the President noted would enable the legionnaires reach out to widows and orphans of the military victims of insurgency in the North East.
